The SF Bay Area hub of the Federal Unionists Network (FUN) and the California Federation of Labor Unions (Cal Fed) are hosting a critical meeting to discuss how we can push back against harmful AI in the Federal workplace.

​The Threat

The current administration is aggressively pushing AI integration. While some tools can be helpful, we face urgent threats from AI-enabled "bossware" designed to monitor workers, alongside the severe risk of AI agents replacing or negatively altering federal jobs.

AI is prone to abuse, and we need a plan.

​The Meeting

We invite local Federal union leaders and members to join us in formulating an AI strategy. This initial meeting will cover:

• The Reality of AI: Risks to workers and the people we serve, current federal workplace experiences, and successful pushback strategies from other unions.

• ​Menu of Cal Fed Support: A preview of how the Federation can help support and mobilize federal union members, including:

  • ​Workplace AI surveys and inventory training.

  • ​Bargaining language and negotiation strategies.

  • ​Congressional outreach and tactics 

  • community organizing.

  • ​leveraging existing laws (Privacy Act, whistleblower, etc.) and

  • crafting new AI legislation.

• ​Partnership: A discussion on how to work with the Federation to access these resources
